Description | This image shows a man hewing wood with an ax. He appears to be creating a notch into which another log will fit. There are pieces of wood, logs, and wood chips all around where the man is working. A note with the photograph indicates that he is working on the Ramsey Cabin, near milepost 50, near where Section 1F meets Section 1G of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Ramsey cabin was restored and reassembled at the Humback Rocks Visitors Center, near milepost 5.8 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This image was taken by C. S. Grossman in September 1952. |
