Title Blowing Rock Golf Course
Date December 20, 1934
Description Photograph shows part of the Blowing Rock Golf Course near section 2F of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken on December 20, 1934.
Commentary One of the main reasons the Blue Ridge Parkway was built was to revive tourism in the western part of North Carolina. Blowing Rock was a popular resort town in the 1920's and 1930's. Many country clubs, hotels, and vacation homes were built in the area before the Blue Ridge Parkway. The route brought more people to these small resort towns and allowed tourism to pick up again. More resorts and vacation attractions were built throughout the following decades.
