    The Yadkin College marker is a simple rectangular bronze tablet attached to a tall narrow rough cut block of granite about four-feet high.

    Yadkin College was one of three institutions founded by the Methodist Church in North Carolina in the last half of the 19th century and first quarter of the 20th century. The others being Jamestown Female College (Academy) in 1858 and High Point College (University) in 1924. Yadkin College, located in Davidson County, closed in 1924 when High Point College opened. The inscription is dated 1940 which is the year the alumni association voted to place this marker and one almost identical at the actual Yadkin College site in Davidson County, NC. Both were placed and dedicated in 1941. The marker at the Yadkin College site was dedicated on June 26, 1941.

  • Location

    The marker is located on Extraordinary Way just west of Montlieu Avenue, on the right when traveling west. It is on the campus of High Point University, High Point, NC.

  • Landscape

    The memorial stands on the lawn, among scattered trees, outside of Roberts Hall. A few feet from this marker stands one to Jamestown Female College.
