  • Description

    The Korean and Vietnam War memorial consists of two black granite panels on a double base. The lower base is gray granite and the upper base is black granite. The left panel has KOREA in white letters across the top with a Korean War campaign tab beneath. In the center are images of a Battlefield Cross comprised of Korean War era rifle, helmet and boots. To the left of the cross is Korean War era tank and to the right a Lockheed Starfire Jet. In the lower left corner is a POW/MIA logo.

    The right panel has Vietnam in white letters across the top with a Vietnam War campaign tab beneath. In the center are images of a Battlefield Cross comprised of Vietnam War era rifle, helmet and boots. To the left and right of the cross are images of Bell UH-1 Huey Helicopters. In the lower right corner is a POW/MIA logo.

    The memorial is located in the Roanoke Rapids Veterans Park on Roanoke Avenue near the intersection with West 7th Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.

  • Landscape

    The city block with the park is mostly a paved parking lot. The park occupies a narrow strip along Roanoke Avenue. Two large trees and shrubbery decorate the plot. . The "Lest We Forget" Veterans memorial, an Afghanistan/Iraq/War on Terror memorial and another small Veterans Memorial most likely relocated from another site occupy the park. A walkway intersects the park, connecting all the memorials.
