    The memorial to the Confederate Dead of Rockingham County is a square polished monolithic block of granite on a double base with a total height of about 4-feet. It weighs app. two thousand pounds of granite. The primary inscription appears on one side of the large block with the dedication date and other inscriptions on the upper base.

  • Monument Dedication and Unveiling

    On Saturday, October 31, 1998, several area Confederate history groups participated in the unveiling ceremony in the Rockingham County Veterans Park in Wentworth. The ceremony began with bagpipers leading in troops from several reactivated Rockingham County-based Confederate regiments. Members of the Eden, Madison-Mayodan, Reidsville and Greensboro chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Children of the Confederacy, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans unveiled the monument. They read the names of the 600 men who died.

    The memorial is located in the Rockingham County Veterans Park, NC Hwy 65 Wentworth, NC 27375. This monument is best accessed from the parking lot for the Mental Health Center. Several other memorials stand in the park.

    The Veterans Park stands at the intersection, with a small wooded area serving as a backdrop.

    Memorial Day and Veterans Day festivities take place in the park.
