Att a councill holden at ye house of Capt Jno Hecklefield in Little River on ffryday the 28th day of May Ano Dom 1714

Present the Honble Thos Pollock Presidt &ca
The Honble Thos Boyd Esqr Lds proptrs Depty
The Honble N Chevin Esqr Lds proptrs Depty
The Honble Tobs Knight Esqr Lds proptrs Depty

The Honble Charles Eden Esqr Presented a Comission to this Board from his Excellcy The most Noble Henry Duke of Beaufort Pallatine & the rest of the Rt Honble & Honble the Lds proptrs of Carolina thereby appointing him Govr Capt Genll & Admll of this province which said Comission was read allowed and ordered to be recorded and the ye said Charles Eden tooke and subscribed the several oaths by law appointed to be taken for his qualification together wth the Oath for ye Due Observation of ye Laws of Trade and Tooke his place at ye Board as Govr accordingly—

Then the afsd Councill being continued there was present

Then a Proclamation was Issued out & published for ye Continuance of all Officers & Majestrates both Millitary and Civill and all process Depending untill the Govrs pleasure Should be farther Knowne thereon

Then this board adjourned till tomorrow morne


Saturday Morne May 29th

This Board met according to adjournment there was present ut Supra together wth the Honble Majr Christo Gale

Whereas report has been made to this board that ye Hatteress Indyans have lately made their Escape from ye Enemy Indyans and are now at Coll Boyds house

It is ordered By this Board that the afsd Coll Boyd Doe supply the Said Indyans wth Corne for their Subsistance untill they can returne to their owne habitations againe and lay his Accot thereof before ye next Assbly

fforasmuch as there is like to be a great Want of Corne in this Governmt for ye Supply of our fforces agt ye Indyan Enemy

Wherefore It is ordered by this Board that ye Severall Officers of ye Customes within this Governmt doe not from hence forward permit any Vessell now to be entered to take any Corne on board till farther Order from this Board And that they signify ye same to ye Masters of ye Vessells at ye tyme of their entry.
