In the year 1720 Mr. Edwd Moseley sent a bill of Exchange for 10£ Sterlg to the Secy of the Honble Society drawn by their Missionary The Revd Mr. Urmstone & it was his desire that that sum should be laid out in the following Books and that they should be marked with the impression of the Society's Seal & wrote upon; “To be lent to the Northeast Parish of Chowan & they should be delivered out to the 12 Vestrymen for the use of themselves & Neighbours—viz—

12 Common Prayer Books of about 2/6 each
12 Whole duty of Dan near the same Price
12 Dr. Nicholl's Paraphrase on the Common Prayer
12 Dr. Horneck's Great Law of Consideration

Bishop Beveridges' Sermons of the usefulness of Common Prayer and such like helps.

But my friend receiving no account of what was done in this affair he wrote again to the Secry in April 1723 with a second bill of the Draught. with request to the Secry that the money should be laid out in the books afore mentioned, or such as should be judged most useful. & he also sent a catalogue of such books as he had purchased desiring the

Honble Society would be pleased to accept of them towards a Provincial Library for the Govt of North Carolina to be kept at Edenton. which is the Metropolis of that Province. But has never to this day had any intelligence from the Secretary of the Society altho' they have had the Revd Mr Newnam their Missry come amongst them since his first letter & their Govr since his last.
