At a Council held at the Council Chamber in Edenton the 25th day of July Anno Dom̄ 1732

Present
His Excelly George Burrington Esqr Govr &c
The Honoble Joseph Jenoure Esqre Member of His Majesties Council
The Honoble John Lovick Esqre Member of His Majesties Council
The Honoble Edmd Gale Esqre Member of His Majesties Council

The above members met in pursuance of the order of Council pass'd the 17th day of May Last and no more Members appearing His Excelly thereupon adjourned the Board to Thursday the 27th Instance

the Honoble John Lovick Esqre Member of His Majesties Council
the Honoble John Bapt Ashe Esqre Member of His Majesties Council
the Honoble Edmd Gale Esqre Member of His Majesties Council

Colo Thomas Swann Treasurer of Pasquotank precinct appeared at this Board and filed his Publick Accots which is ordered to lye on the table

Ordered that the Attorney General do prepare a Draught of a Comission for Erecting a Court of Exchequor to be Laid before this Board on the Last Tuesday in October next.

His Excelly desired Mr Secretary Rice and Mr Ashe to Declare whether they gave Mr Smith the Late Cheif Justice any authority to Complain against him to the King. Mr Ashe and Mr Rice thereupon Desired His Excelly to put the Question in writing which His Excelly did and is in these words Vizt Mr William Smith having presented a petition to the Kings most Excellent Majesty against me which he says in behalf of Assembly several Members of Council &c Mr Rice the Secty and Mr Ashe being two Members of the Council are desired by me to declare if they appointed the said Smith to appear against me and Complain to the King in the manner he the said Smith has done in his said Petition a Copy of which is now on the Table or in any other manner

Mr Secretary and Mr Ashe desired time to answer the above paper which is granted

Ordered that the several precinct Treasurers within this Government do attend this Board on the Last Tuesday in October next and Exhibit their publick Accots
