Letter from Mr. Pownall to Colonel Tryon Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina.

Whitehall July 24th 1764

Sir,

The Sieur Closen, who will have the honour to deliver this to you intends undertaking a Settlement in Province of North Carolina, and having applied to the Lords Commissioners for Trade and Plantations for a recommendation of him to you for a Grant of Lands, I am directed by their Lordships to desire you will make him a Grant of such a quantity as shall be proportioned to the number of persons in his Family conformable to the directions of his Majesty's instructions in such a part of the Province as he shall think will best answer the Objects he has in view.
