To His Excellency Josiah Martin Esqr His Majestys Captain General, Governor & Commander in Chief in and over the Province of North Carolina To the Honourable the Members of His Majesty's Council And To the Members of the House of Burgesses now Sitting.

The Petition of Thomas Bryant Humbly Sheweth,

That whereas your Petitioner who was a Soldier in Captain Nathaniel

Hart's Company, of the Orange Detachment in the late expedition against the Insurgents, and had the misfortune of receiving in the Battle at the Alamance, five Wounds, one of which in his Breast has rendered him intirely unable to Labour for a Livelihood, being extremely Weak and infirm with it. And your petitioner further Sheweth, that he has no Estate wherewith he can support himself, and is obliged to indebted to the Humanity of his Friends & Acquaintances for a Support. He therefore prays that such reasonable provision may be made for him by the General Assembly, as they in their Wisdom shall think proper, whereby he may be enabled to Live & receive the Common Blessings of Life, without being troublesome to his Friends or an Incumbrance to the Parish he is resident in. And your Petitioner as in Duty bound shall ever pray, &c.
