August 5th, 1777.
Sir:—
After I had enclosed my letter of yesterday to your Excellency, the enclosed letter from Capt. Rowan amongst other dispatches from Cumberland and Bladen was delivered me. As it contains the amount of the content of the others, and things necessary for your Excellency to be acquainted with, I have enclosed it.
