CIRCULAR TO BRIGADIER GENERALS OF MILITIA.
[From Executive Letter Book.]

Halifax, Feb. 25th, 1782.

Sir:

As the Assembly will have under consideration the recruiting the Continental service of the State it is highly requisite that they be informed what Counties have furnished their Quotas, Drafts, and also the number of feasible men in the respective Counties of the State. I therefore desire that you will immediately furnish me with the Returns asked by the orders in Council of last July, which I do not find has yet been done, also with returns from the Commanding Officers of Battalions of the Drafts, for the delivery of which they have receipts from the Continental officers specifying the names of such officers.

I must insist that this business be neither neglected nor delayed.

I am Sir, &c.,
THOMAS BURKE.
