Kingston, July 9th, 1786.
Sir:
I have had the honor to receive your letter of yesterday's date. I do not conceive myself by any means authorized to give you assurances that your salary shall be paid regularly in hard money. Were I to do so, it would be only disappointing you and involving myself into difficulties, the impracticability of effecting such payments
being so well known to you, I need not enlarge on the subject. Agreeable to your other requisition you will be pleased to receive herewith warrants to the amount of eight month's salary for the ensuing year.I have the honor to be,
