GOV. R. CASWELL TO HON. WM. BLOUNT.
[From Executive Letter Book.]

Kingston, July 9th, 1786.

Sir:

I have had the honor to receive your letter of yesterday's date. I do not conceive myself by any means authorized to give you assurances that your salary shall be paid regularly in hard money. Were I to do so, it would be only disappointing you and involving myself into difficulties, the impracticability of effecting such payments

being so well known to you, I need not enlarge on the subject. Agreeable to your other requisition you will be pleased to receive herewith warrants to the amount of eight month's salary for the ensuing year.

I have the honor to be,
With great respect and esteem Sir,
Your most obedient Servant,
R. CASWELL.
