JNO. PIERCE, COMMISSIONER OF ARMY ACCOUNTS, TO GOV. CASWELL.
[From Executive Letter Book.]

Office of Army Accounts, New York, September 7th, 1786.

Sir:

I do myself the Honor to enclose to your Excellency Copies of the Receipts of the Agents of the Line of your State for the Certificates issued by me, for the arrears due the line who are, agreeable to the Acts of Congress, accountable to the executive of the State for their issues.

As it is necessary in the examination of the Agents' expenditures to recur to my Register of the Certificates issued to them, I have obtained the Sanction of the Commissioners of the Treasury, that your Auditors be permitted access for that purpose to my Register, now in the hands of the Loan Officer of your State.

I am very respectfully,
Your Excellency's most obedient Servt.,
JNO. PIERCE.
