Received, Halifax, April 28th, 1785, of Ebenezer Jackson, Asst. Com'r Army Accts., two hundred and forty-nine final settlement certificates, signed by John Pierce, Esquire, dated the 1st day of February last, and numbered from 91,607 to 91,855 inclusive, amounting in the whole to one hundred and ninety-five thousand, six hundred Dollars, bearing interest of 6 per cent. per Annum from the 15th day of November, 1783, it being in full for the commutation of five years full pay in lieu of half pay for life, pursuant to the resolution of Congress, March 22nd, 1783, for four Cols., two Lieut. Cols., Six Majors, thirty-four Captains, thirty-five Lieutenants and two Surgeons of the North Carolina Line, including those who retired from Service the first January, 1783, and those who continued in service to the end of the War, all which certificates I do hereby promise to deliver to the respective individuals or lodge them where the Supreme Executive of the State of North Carolina shall direct.
