At a Court of Inquiry held at Halifax the 5th day of Novr., 1779, by order of Brigadier Genl. Jethro Sumner to Inquire into
the Conduct of Colo. Gideon Lamb at the Actions of Brandywine and Gearman town on the 11th of Sept. & 4th of Octr., 1777, Colo. James Armstrong, Presd.The Presidents met according to Appointment. Adjourned the Court to Saturday 9 O’clock. Saturday 6th Novr. The Court met according to Adjournment and after examining the Different Testimonials about Colo. Lamb Leaving his Regiment and the Ground occupied by it on the Eleventh of Sept., 1777, at the action at Brandywine, without Orders, are of Opinion the Charge is not Supported and that he be Acquitted with Honour.
