Edenton, 22 January, 1788.

Sir:

Your Letter of the 27th of December with the Act of the Legislature

of Virginia concerning the convention to be held in June next, did not reach me till this day. The Legislature of this State having been prorogued on the 22nd of December last, I had not the pleasure of communicating to them the friendly attention of the State of Virginia, to the Interest of her Sister States, by laying before them that Act.
