September 7, 1780.

John Latty, James Latty, William Montgomrie, John Douglas, John Woods and William Cain make Oath before me, William Courtney, one of lhe State's Justices assigned to keep the peace for the county of Orange, That the Corps of Light Horse under the command of Colonel Armong have billeted themselves on the said deponents; and without regard to the laws of humanity or the sacred rights of the citizen, have wantonly and cruelly destroyed and by violence wrested from the said deponents their property inasmuch as they have taken possession of their dwelling houses, barnes and other houses, together with the furniture and grain in them, and converted the same to their own use, and have also pulled down their fences and turned their horses into the corn fields of the said deponents; and arbitrarily and forcibly taken from them sheep, &c. And the said deponents farther depose that they have, with the rest of their fellow citizens contributed their quotas of grain and other provisions to the support of the army stationed at Hillsborough.
