LT. COL. A. LYTLE TO BRIG. GEN. SUMNER.

Hillsborough, 15th March, 1782.

Dear General:

A Mr. Peeler,(?) a trading Gentleman, immediately from Baltimore, says he travelled in Company some Days with Lieut. Colonel Thaxton,(?) who was on his way to the Southern Army; that Col. Thaxton (?) informed Mr. Peeler he was exchanged, also General Moultrie and myself. I have no reason to doubt of this exchange as Certain, yet cannot, until I am Officially informed, take upon myself to Act. I have lost my horses—should I find them or procure others? Intend to go to Halifax before the Session of the General Assembly, by which time I hope to be at Liberty to wait on you for Orders.

I am, Sir, with Respect, your most Obedt.,
ARCH. LYTLE.
