Dear General:
I have nothing new to inform you of—frequently alarmed by the enemy’s Cavalry, but they dare not attack. We shall have 276 men to discharge the 1st May, which will make the Brigade look small. Our officers and men are tolerable harty; our beef is but poor, but mending every day. I should be much obliged to you to inform me by the first opportunity what the Assembly are about doing for the Army, and what plan they have fell on to raise troops. If you have any oppy. should take it as a particular favour to send me a few pounds of smoking tobacco. I have laid by the snuff box and taken up the pipe. Please to give my compliments to all friends, and
N. B.—I will send you a return the 1st May of the Brigade.
