Dear General:
A new arrangement hath taken place in our line which will be handed to you by Col. Lytle. The officers in general here wish that you would not suffer any partial appointments by the Assembly, in case reduction takes place in our line, or filling up the vacancies of the prisoners of War, which is now arranged. We have suffered by those impositions before, and came off 2nd best. Nothing but adhering strictly to the resolves of Congress can be satisfactory to the officers of the Army. I am now without command or money. How to get home I know not, my certificate is blank and protested at home and abroad. For other news I refer you to the bearer.
