HON. JOHN JAY TO GOV. CASWELL.
[From Gov. Caswell's Letter Book.]

Office for Foreign Affairs,
31st March, 1785.

Sir:

I have the honor of transmitting to your Excellency a copy of a letter from Mr. Adams to the President of Congress of the 22nd April, 1784, and of a letter to Mr. Adams from Mr. de St. Sapronis of the 21st April, 1784, together with a copy of the paper referred in the latter.

Your Excellency will perceive from these papers that the Bishops of Denmark will confer holy orders on American Candidates without any Tests which (like those insisted on in England) would be improper for Americans to comply with.

I have the honor to be with great respect, your Excellency's mo. ob. & very humbl. servt.,
JOHN JAY.
