Elvira Jane Holt (1824-1903) was the daughter of William Rainey (1798-1868) and Mary Allen (d. 1832) Holt. She married Joseph J. Erwin (1811-1879); they were the parents of 10 children (Dictionary of North Carolina Biography 3:191-92).
