Burgwyn, Thomas Pollock

Thomas Pollock Burgwyn was the son of Sarah Pierrepoint Hunt and John Fanning Burgwyn (1783-1864), an Episcopalian. The family was extraordinarily wealthy, owning several plantations in the area of New Bern and Wilmington, NC. Thomas entered the University in 1830 but left in 1834 without a degree.
