Georgia Fifty-Dollar Note
Dated "January 15th, 1862."
Designed and engraved by "Douglas" of New Orleans, this note features a central vignette of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture. On either side of Ceres are oval portraits of Georgia Governor Joseph E. Brown. The official seal of the state treasury is stamped on either end of the note, obscuring duplicate images of Justitia, the Roman goddess of justice.
