            <head>NOTICE—TAX IN KIND.</head>
            <p>THE undersigned, Assessors for Orange county, will attend at the following times and places for the purpose of assessing the Tax in Kind in Wheat, Oats, Rye, cured Hay, and Wool.</p>
            <list type="simple">
              <item>At Chapel Hill, on Monday and Tuesday, the 5th and 6th of September, 1864.  </item>
              <item>At White Cross, on Wednesday the 7th.  </item>
              <item>At Thomas J. Cates's, on Thursday the 8th.  </item>
              <item>At J. W. Miles, on Friday the 9th.</item>
              <item>At Hillsborough, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the 12th, 13th and 14th.</item>
              <item>At Cedar Grove, on Thursday the 15th.</item>
              <item>At Caldwell, on Friday the 16th.</item>
              <item>At Red Mountain, on Monday the 19th.</item>
              <item>At Mangum's Store, on Tuesday the 20th.</item>
              <item>At John D. Lipscomb's, on Wednesday the 21st.</item>
              <item>At Durham's Depot, on Thursday and Friday, the 22d and 23d.</item>
              <item>At Gunter's, on Saturday the 24th.</item>
            </list>
            <p>All farmers will be expected to meet us at the above times and places, prepared to list their crops of Grain in bushels of 60 pounds, Oats 32 pounds,and Rye 56 pounds; Hay and Wool by weight.  </p>
            <p>The notice of the 10th of August is hereby revoked.</p>

            <head>NOTICE—CONFEDERATE TAX.</head>
            <p>THE undersigned, Assessors for Orange County, will attend at the following times and places for the purpose of assessing the Taxes for the year 1864:</p>
            <list type="simple">
              <item>At Chapel Hill, on Monday and Tuesday, the 5th and 6th days of September.</item>
              <item>At White Cross, on Wednesday the 7th.</item>

            <p>The taxpayers of Orange county are hereby notified to attend at the times and places above stated nearest their respective residences, and furnish to the Assessors a correct list of the following subjects of taxation on hand, held or owned on the 17th of February, 1864:  Number of acres of Land, and value in 1860; Slaves, number, sex and value; number of Horses, Mules, Asses, Jennets, Cattle, Sheep, Goats and Hogs, value  in 1860; Cotton, Wool, Tobacco<corr>,</corr> Corn, Wheat, Oats, Rye, Potatoes, Peas, Beans, &amp;c., Flour, Meal, Sugar, Molasses, Bacon, Lard, Spirituous Liquors, &amp;c., on hand 17th February, 1864, and not necessary for family consumption in 1864; Household and Kitchen Furniture, Agricultural Implements, Mechanical Tools, Musical Instruments, Carriages, Carts, Drays, Wagons, Books, Maps, and value in 1860; Property of Corporations, Joint Stock Companies and Associations, Gold and Silver Coin, Gold Dust, and Gold and Silver Bullion; amount of all solvent Credits, Bank Bills, and all other paper issued as currency; value of money held abroad, and bills of exhange in foreign countries, and the value of all articles of primal or mixed property not enumerated above, and not exempt from taxation.</p>
            <p>Land, Slaves, Cotton and Tobacco purchased since the 1st day of January, 1864, must be listed at the amount paid for them.</p>
