To the Senate and House of Representatives:

I herewith transmit a communication from the Secretary of War, submitting estimates for the Indian Service to June 30, 1863.

I recommend an appropriation of the amount, and for the purpose indicated.

SIR: I have the honor to transmit herewith estimates of appropriations necessary to meet the expenses of the Indian Service to June 30th, 1863.

The accumulation of business in this office, during an absence of four months on my part, in visiting the Indians west of Arkansas, joined with matters growing out of that mission, which required prompt attention, has prevented me from preparing and submitting these papers at an earlier day.

treaty stipulations made with certain Indian Tribes to June 30th, 1863,
inclusive.

- For perpetual annuities from July 1st, 1862 to June 30th, 1863, under article 41, to be paid to the Treasurers of the Nation. . . . .$24,500 00
- For interest from July 1st, 1862 to June 30th, 1863, under article 41, on the sum of $200,000 in the Treasury of the United States, and which should have been invested for educational purposes--to be paid to the Treasurers of the Nation. . . . .10,000 00
- For annual provision for education from July 1st, 1862, to June 30th, 1863, under article 41, to be paid to the Treasurers of the Nation. . . . .7,000 00
