Problems with University Lake as a Chapel Hill water source

Herzenberg discusses the potential problems with continuing to use University Lake as a water source for Chapel Hill. It is not large enough to provide water despite evaporation in the summer, and the town cannot raise the water level without absorbing the contents of nearby septic tanks.
