Many residents were pleased with the construction of US 23

Boone remembers exploring as a child and finding survey stakes for US 23, which was eventually built. Although the road took a while to construct, Boone remembers a sense of inevitability about it, and despite concerns, residents were pleased to gain such easy access to Asheville.
