Boone remembers roaming the Mars Hill area picking blackberries. Now, he says, landowners won't let others on their property, possibly because trespassers had started abusing the land. Boone sees a dual degeneration of rural values: wanderers have lost their respect for the land and owners have lost their hospitality.
