A short history of US 23

Hyatt discusses the history of Madison County's US 23. He notes the excitement when the route opened in the 1930s. Since then, the traffic has grown from a few hundred people to such volume that the number of tractor trailers allowed to travel the road was limited by law. The road itself has "outlived its usefulness," necessitating the construction of I-26.
