Organizing to take charge of rebuilding

Elberta Hudson describes how she and Thomas joined a community organization called Strengthening Our Communities, which aimed to take control of the compensation process. They joined in part because of a belief in the ability of local groups to meet local needs, in part to guard against fraud, but also to take their attention off of their own problems and focus them on helping others.
