The Board reopened the subject of appointing a Professor of Chemistry, Mineralogy
& Geology & proceeded to vote by Ballot when William
J. Martin
received a majority of the whole number of votes &
was duly elected.
Gov. Graham
from the Committee on College Buildings made a verbal Report
& exhibited a plan for enlarging & erecting new Houses. The
plan was agreed to & the Committee instructed & authorized to take immediate
steps to make all necessary contracts & to cause the Buildings to be
erected without delay.
