The Faculty of the University wishing to promote a spirit
of generous emulation among the Students & to reward merit have
determined that such Student in each class as shall excel his class fellows in
his Saturday compositions shall have his name mentioned with honour before the
University recorded with the subject of the
Composition in this Book & as a reward for extraordinary merit as often
as it shall appear they shall write down their composition at full length with
their names annexed.
