Bill of Fare
At Commons at the University of
North Carolina
for the year 1808

For Breakfast.

A sufficient quantity of good milk, or a pint of good Coffee or Tea, or Chocolate or Tea, together with a warm roll or loaf of wheat or corn flour bread, at the option of each student, during each session in the year, except during the months of Jany., Feby., and March, and for those months the wheat bread may be cold, but will risen; also a sufficient quantity, not exceeding an ounce of Butter, in place of which meats may at any time be substituted with the permission of the Faculty.

For Dinner.

A dish of Bacon and greens, or Beef and turnips, together with a sufficient quantity of fresh meats or fowls, or puddings or tarts, and warm wheat or corn bread; and during the months of Jany., Feby., and March, it shall be the duty of the Steward to furnish on every Sunday a sufficient number of Turkies —also potatoes and all other kinds of vegetable food usually served up in Carolina.

For Supper.

A sufficiency of Milk from the 15th of May to the 15th of September inclusive, and during the

remainder of each session a pint of Coffee or Tea at the option of the Steward, and the necessary quantity of warm bread or biscuit.

December 10 1807
Resolved that the bill of fare at Commons in the Univ. of N. Carolina for the year 1808 be fairly transcribed by the Sec. of the Board and transmitted to the Faculty of the said University; and that the Faculty cause such transcript to be stuck up in the public dining room, and see that the same is kept up throughout the two next sessions.
