		  <p> The Secretary having submitted to the 
			 <name key="name0000352" reg="Executive Committee, Board of Trustees" type="organization">Committee</name> a communication from the Faculty of the 
			 <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization" rend="yes">University</name> accompanied<pb id="unc07-09-p02" n="2"/> by sundry documents showing a violation of the Act of
			 the 
			 <name key="name0000756" reg="North Carolina General Assembly" type="organization" rend="yes">General Assembly</name> forbidding the sale to
			 any Student of the 
			 <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> of goods, wares, &amp; merchandise,
			 spirituous liquors or wine without the consent of the Faculty or some one of
			 the Professors thereof given in writing:—And of an Ordinance of the 
			 <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization" rend="yes">Trustees</name> declaring that no Student of the
			 
			 <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> shall during the Session of College under
			 any pretence contract any debt whatsoever &amp; the 
			 <name key="name0000352" reg="Executive Committee, Board of Trustees" type="organization">Committee</name> having considered the same</p> 
		  <p>Resolved</p> 
		  <p> that in a case of a plain &amp; palpable violation of the Act of
			 the 
			 <name key="name0000756" reg="North Carolina General Assembly" type="organization">General Assembly</name> before mentioned, the 
			 <name key="name0000352" reg="Executive Committee, Board of Trustees" type="organization">Committee</name> are of the opinion &amp; hold it to be the
			 bounden duty of the Faculty of the 
			 <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> &amp; especially to be the duty of the
			 Pres. of said Faculty to institute &amp; carry on prosecutions under the said
			 act.</p> 
		  <p> Resolved further as the Opinion of this 
			 <name key="name0000352" reg="Executive Committee, Board of Trustees" type="organization">Committee</name> that the case of any Student violating the
			 said Ordinance should be dealt with by the Faculty according to their
			 discretion having due regard to the age of such students &amp; to the
			 circumstances connected with such infraction.</p>
