Chapel
Hill1. May 1862.
My dear Sir,
I have had repeated interviews with your son, since the receipt of your note, and have consulted Dr. Jones
in relation to him
He seemed in better health and spirits yesterday than heretofore, and promised
now to make an earnest effort to go on with his studies. He is intelligent and
amiable and will I hope do well. I will pay particular attention to him, and
give him permission to go home at any time, when his condition may seem to
require such indulgence.
