                <p>I received your letter this morning &amp; was some what disapointed at your
                    not stoping, but I of course am willing to undergo any disapointment if it will,
                    in the least, lessen the pain of my dear <name key="x" reg="x" type="person" rend="">mother</name>. But I was some what surprised at the last part of
                    your letter in which you mention that you had heard from doctor <name key="pn0000874" reg="Jones, Johnston Blakeley" type="person" rend="yes">Jones</name>, for I did study &amp; can maintain the same standing with my
                    class, with the same ease. You mention your surprise at my not writing to you
                    bfore, which I most assuredly would have done, had I known where you were for
                        D<hi rend="sup">r</hi>
                    <name key="pn0000874" reg="Jones, Johnston Blakeley" type="person">Jones</name> told me that you would
                    leave <name key="name0000934" reg="Raleigh, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Raleigh</name>name&gt; in a day or two &amp; that you did not know whether
                    you would stop or not &amp; November<ref id="ref1" target="note1" rend="sup">1</ref> told me that they expected you home in less than a week,
                    when he was up there last &amp; that has been five weeks ago.</p>
                <p>I have been attending college duties during the last week &amp; my leg
                    continues to get better still &amp; I have quit doctoring it.</p>
                <p> I suppose you did not make a settelment with D<hi rend="sup">r</hi>. <name key="pn0000874" reg="Jones, Johnston Blakeley" type="person">Jones</name> &amp; I have
                    requested D<hi rend="sup">r</hi>. <name key="pn0001194" reg="Mitchell, Elisha" type="person" rend="yes">M.</name> to do so.</p>
                <p>Tell Sister <name key="x" reg="x" type="person" rend="">Kate.</name> that I think
                    she might write to me for I had to sit up in the bed to write to you &amp;
                    her &amp; that you have answered it long since but that she has not thought
                    of me since.</p>
                <p>I suppose Mr <name key="x" reg="x" type="person" rend="">Roulhac</name> has not
                    returned <pb id="unc11-07-p02" n="[2]"/>for he promised to write to me when he
                    did.</p>
                <p>I have not heard from Sister <name key="x" reg="x" type="person" rend="">Anne</name> since Mr <name key="x" reg="x" type="person" rend="">Green</name>
                    came from there</p>
                <p>You will please to write to me &amp; tell me to what <name key="x" reg="x" type="place" rend="">springs</name> you are going &amp; how long you
                    will stay.</p>
                <p>I expect that you were glad to hear that the bank bill had been vetoed.</p>
                <p>Give my love to all &amp; tell <name key="x" reg="x" type="person" rend="">Mama</name> that I hope she will both enjoy &amp; be benefited by her
                    trip.</p>
