Gentlemen,
In compliance with the ordinances adopted for the government of the University, the regular semi-annual examination of the Students of the
Institution, commenced on the 20th instant; and was continued from day to day, until the 23d,
inclusive.
In the absence of the Trustees, the duty of examination devolved entirely on the Faculty; and
they now have the honor to submit to the Board, the opinions which they have formed, with regard to the
scholarship of the Individuals, who compose the four classes of the Institution.
The Senior Class consists of the following members, to wit,
They were examined in Chemistry, Natural History, the Medea in Greek; Molière, and the Henriade in French; Political Economy, Mental Philosophy and
the Holy Scriptures.
XE. D. Covington
and R. Ap. C. Jones, were absent by permission. Wm S. Battle
is yet to be examined in the department of Chemistry and the
Languages.
Those members of this class, who have failed to hand in their speeches, at the close of this
session, will be required to present them, at the commencement of the next session, to entitle them
to admission on full standing.
