To the Honorable Mr Speaker and Gentlemen of the Assembly of North Carolina, the 28th of Novemr 1771.

The Humble Petition of Ann Bryan Widdow of William Bryan late an Ensign in the Craven Detachment Sheweth.

That some time in the Month of March last, your Petitioners Husband, William Bryan, was appointed an Ensign in the Craven Detachment; and went out as such in the late Expedition under the Command of His Excellency Governor Tryon against the Insurgents and was killed in the Battle of the Allemance, having left your poor unhapy Petitioner his Widdow with Six Small Children in Distressed Circumstances. And as Satisfaction at the present Assembly is to be made to those who were Out in the Service, your Petitioner humbly hopes this Honorable House will consider your poor Petitioner as having lost in the Service of this Country, all that was Dear to her by the Death of her Husband, And Afford her such Relief as in your Wisdom may be thought proper

And your Petitioner as for Duty Bound will pray &c—
