North Carolina [Beaufort County.]

Know all men by these Presents, that we Alderson Ellison, Francis Jones and John Fowler, all of the County and Province aforesaid, are held and firmly Bound unto his Excellency, Josiah Martin, Esqr, Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the said Province, in the sum of one Thousand Pounds sterling, money of Great Britain, to be paid to his said Excellency the Governor or his successors to the which Payment well and truly be made and we bind

ourselves and each of us our Heirs, Exrs and Admrs jointly and severally firmly by these Presents sealed with our seals and dated this 20th day of June Anno Dom. 1775.

The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above Bounden Alderson Ellison is Constituted and appointed Sheriff of the County of Beaufort by Commission from the Governor under the seal of the Province dated the 28th day of March last. If therefore the said Alderson Allison shall, well and truly collect and receive all such Publick Taxes and dues as are or which shall be appointed by Act of Assembly to be paid by the Taxable persons within his Bailiwick during his continuance as Sheriff thereof, and shall duly account for and pay the same to such Person or Persons and at such times as by law are or shall be Limited and Directed, then the above Obligation is to be Void and of None Effect otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
