Gentlemen,
I am by order of the Provincial Congress now sitting at this place to inform you that in Consequence of an intimation in your Letter of the first of last month that it would be agreeable to Congress that two more Regiments should be raised in this Province; they have ordered them to be raised immediately, and it having been represented by Genl Moore are absolutely necessary for the Service, they have ordered three companies to be raised which with the two Regiments you are to use your influence to have placed on the Continental Establishment.
The Provincial Congress have appointed Colo Fras Nash to command the first Regiment in the stead of Genl Moore, Majr Thos Clark is advanced to the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Capt Will.
Davis to be Major of the said Regiment; Colo Alexr Martin to command the second Regiment in the stead of Genl Howe, Maj. John Patton Lieut Colo and Capt John White Major in the said Regt and desire that you will apply to Congress for their approbation and that the proper Commissions be procured from the President and forwarded.The Field Officers in the other three Regiments are not yet named.
