That Country cannot but soon derive happy effects from your elevation to the dignity a grateful society have been pleased to confer upon you. Commissioners are appointed by the Executive of Virginia, to treat with the Cherokee Indians for the final Ratification of the peace, made with some of their Chief by Col. Christian last fall. I am not able as yet to inform you of the time and place, of the Treaty, but beg leave to refer to the Commissioners who are instructed to give you intimation of both, in order that Commissioners from your state may cooperate if it is thought proper.
