“After the Battle of Brandywine, 11th Sept. 1777, 2nd and 3rd N. C. Regiments consolidated and called the 2nd.”
“After the Battle of Germantown, 4th Oct. 1777, 4th and 1st N. C. Regiments consolidated, and called the 1st, commanded by Col. Thos. Clark.'
“Col. James Armstrong commanded the 8th N. C. Regiment- On the reduction of it those soldiers that were left was tranferred to the 2nd commanded by Col. John Patten.”
