Your favor of yesterday was delivered me this day, when I immediately laid the same before the Council, who with reluctance have advised my acceptance of your resignation of the office of one of the Judges of the Superior Court, which I also do with as much reluctance as you can well conceive, well knowing your place cannot be supplied by a gentleman of equal abilities and inclination to serve the State in the importance of that office.
