JAS. WILLIAMS TO COL. JOHN LUTTRELL AT HILLSBOROUGH.

Chatham, 25th August, 1781.

Sir:

Yours I recd. from Hillsborough and find you expect to command the Militia of this County. I assure you it was the Sence of the General Assembly and positively agreed on by Col. Ramsey (and myself) who promised to insert your Name on the Book of Nominations, but he informed me on our way to Wilmington it had escaped his Memory. I need not inform you what is Necessary to be done in that Case.

I am with great respect, Your mo. ob. Servt.,
JAS. WILLIAMS.
