State of North Carolina,
April 17th, 1782.
To the Honorable the General Assembly—
Gentlemen:
I send you some intelligence which came to hand late last night.
Orders are dispatched to the Districts of Edenton and New Berne for engaging five hundred Miiitia in each in order to cover such places as may appear to be the objects of the Enemy.
This measure may agreeably to the Constitution require your sanction.
