Hillsborough, May 7th, 1782.

Sir:

Mr. Burden, the bearer hereof, son of Mr. William Burden, of Beaufot, in this State, will apply to you for a flag to go into Charles Town to recover some Negroes that the Enemy plundered him of lately at Beaufort, which, perhaps, may by your permission be effected.

Should it not, Sir, be incompatible with the operations of your Army, you will please to grant Mr. Burden a flag for that purpose,
