Dr. Sir:
I am anxious to hear from you, and of the Sense of the Officers continuing, or retire’g on half pay, agreeable to resolve of Congress of the 3rd of Octr. & 21, 1780, &c., &c., that I may make ready in a day or two after I reatch Hillsboro, to transmit Genl. Greene a return for the Secre’y of War. A copy of the resolve of Congress the 7th of Augst. last you have, also some such letters I have, touching the Arrangmts., and form of the return,
N. B. Be pleased to procure from Col. Long, a return of such waggoners as are for the War, and all other soldiers under him. If you will also make a return of all the soldiers who are for the war, &c., that are not immediately under Col. Long in the District of Halifax, and particularly in the Vicinity of the Town of Halifax.
