COL. JAMES ARMSTRONG TO CAPT. MATT. MOUND.

Pitt County, January 19th, 1782.

Dear Sir:

I Rec’d. yours of the 14th Instant with a Sufficient Certificate which I Grant are a discharge for the same Thomas Davis. I

Claim him as a listed Soldier since his Discharge, therefore, I desire you will send Davis to Halifax where he Deserted from; also the twenty men that fled from the action of Guilford that Col. Hart has thought proper to furlough. If there should not be an Officer at that post you will Deliver them to Capt. Read. I believe you will find Major Hogg there or some other Contin’l. Officer to take charge of them.
